Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation files amendment to short form base shelf prospectus

TORONTO, June 22 /CNW/ - Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation (TSX: SC) today
announced that it has filed, with the securities regulators in each of the
provinces of Canada, an amendment to its short form base shelf prospectus
dated May 22, 2008 (as amended, the "Amended Prospectus") to increase the
aggregate principal amount of medium term notes to be issued from time to time
from $1 billion to $1.5 billion. To date, the Company has issued an aggregate
of $950 million principal amount of medium term notes under its original short
form base shelf prospectus dated May 22, 2008. No incremental debt has been
incurred by the Company as a result of this filing.
Any offering of medium term notes under the Amended Prospectus is
expected to be made by way of a prospectus supplement or pricing supplement to
the Amended Prospectus. The Amended Prospectus, including the documents
incorporated by reference therein, contains important information concerning
