Campaign kicks off September 17th, 2011 at Shoppers Drug Mart stores across the country
TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2011 /CNW/ - To help raise much-needed funds in support of women's whole health, Shoppers Drug Mart announced today that it will be holding the tenth annual Tree of Life campaign from September 17th, 2011 to October 14th, 2011. Now in its tenth year, the four-week campaign has raised more than $14.7 million dollars in support of local women's charities across the country and continues to be the Company's largest and most successful in-store fundraising campaign.
Held each fall, the campaign provides customers with the opportunity to purchase and personalize a "Tree of Life" icon, including a "leaf" for a loonie, a "butterfly" for $5 or a "cardinal" for $50. The icons are prominently displayed on the Tree of Life in all participating stores and one hundred per cent of proceeds are donated to local women's health organizations.
"National in scope yet locally-based, the annual Tree of Life campaign offers patients, customers and employees the opportunity to donate directly to the organizations that make a difference to women's health in their own communities," said Lisa Gibbs, Manager, Community Investment, Shoppers Drug Mart. "With the support of our Pharmacist-owners and their teams at store-level, our employees and customers, we are confident that we will reach our goal of raising $2.1 million to improve the health of women across Canada."
The Tree of Life campaign is one of the leading partnership programs of the Shoppers Drug Mart WOMEN platform - the Company's commitment to improving the health of all Canadian women in body, mind and spirit. Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacist-owners identify and personally select the organizations in the communities they serve that will benefit from the Tree of Life program. By partnering with these charities, Shoppers Drug Mart can ensure that they are able to continue to provide direct support, resources and programming to meet the needs of Canadian women. In 2011, the Tree of Life campaign will support more than 380 Canadian health care charities.
Customers and patients who wish to support this meaningful campaign can purchase a "Tree of Life" icon online at www.shoppersdrugmart.ca/treeoflife or by visiting a local participating Shoppers Drug Mart store between September 17th and October 14th.
